Help Bytown Tiffins Feed Struggling Students & New Immigrants in Ottawa
Over the last decade, hundreds of international students and new immigrants in Canada have lost their lives — not to crime or disaster, but to invisible battles: hunger, depression, extreme stress, and isolation.
Many died by suicide. Some passed away due to untreated health conditions made worse by malnutrition. Others froze during winter because they couldn't afford both rent and heat. The common thread? They were suffering silently — and they were hungry.
At Bytown Tiffins, we’ve seen this struggle up close. Students calling to ask if they can pay later. Newcomers living on toast and tea for days. People too proud to ask for help, but clearly in need of it.
This is why we’re launching the Bytown Tiffins Pay-It-Forward Fund — to ensure that no one in Ottawa goes without a warm, nourishing meal just because they’re facing a hard time.
💛 Every $10 donation gives someone a hot, homestyle Indian meal.
💛 $50 feeds them for 5 days.
💛 $100 can restore strength, dignity, and hope for nearly two weeks.
We cook every morning with care — not mass-produced food, but meals made just like we’d make for our own families.
Whether it's an international student with no support system or a newly arrived family trying to survive their first Canadian winter — your support can make the difference between despair and relief.
Let’s make sure no one suffers alone.
Let’s fight hunger — one tiffin at a time.
Please donate. Share. And stand with us.
